Kamal

Kamal is one of the pioneers of "Sacred World Music", producing relaxation and meditative music for over 30 years, along with the likes of Deuter, Anugama and Karunesh and collaborating with musicians such as Zakir Hussein and Hari Prasad Chaurasia. As a classical guitarist studying music and sound engineering at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Germany he soon felt constricted by the limitations of classical music and he traveled the world, cultivating his musical skills and expanding his creative palette. He continued to travel and his experiments both culturally and musically excited him as he realised that he could develop complex instrumentation and arrangements using new technologies to discover and develop his unique style and sound.

Landing in India, in the multi-cultural environment of the "Ashram in Poona", he sat with Osho, performing the music for the chants and daily mediations and other sorts of group practices. Kamal also performed and recorded with Deva Premal and Mitten and was their sound engineer on their latest Australian tour. His first album with New Earth Records, 'Shamanic Healing', had a Shamanic feeling of ritual and healing offering the listener a certain space and atmosphere for change and magic to happen.

Kamal has won several national and international awards for his music in the areas of Ambient-New Age Music, World Music and Devotional Music, including the Dolphin Award (Australian Entertainment Industry Association). As a producer and performer his music has sold over 500.000 CDs and has titles published on more than 450.000 sold compilations and samplers. He currently lives and creates in his "ArtOfAudio" studio in Byron Bay, Australia.
